A Biblical Timeline Banner Gives A Creative Mode To Aid And Help Teach Biblical Characters And Events And Realities

In our Bible class years ago, one person who had been a Christian and been involved in the Church for many years, made this statement,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they weren't talking about the pre-mosaic law) I wonder just how many Christians would actually pick up the inaccuracy in this statement. Moses lived five hundred years after Abraham and so it is an impossibility. I have since then compiled a Bible timeline chart and explained graphically the time period of men and women and occasions.

Some years ago, I was teaching on the resurrection, life, death and burial of Christ Jesus, and a retired pastor and powerful preacher of Scripture, who had been a pastor for forty years, came to me and reproved me smartly over some interesting points I made and he referred to 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I humbly asked him if I was teaching anything of a heretical nature in any way, to which he said"No". I continued to describe that in the case of that particular Scripture, it wasn't speaking to examining Scripture but to the false teaching and philosophy of Gnosticism, but he would not accept it. So, how can a forty year preacher & worker in the Gospel, not know and understand about a thing that probably half the books of the New Testament relate to?
How could he study and teach the Bible in fullness without knowing about a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to comprehend these things and be able to understand their Bible effectively, if they're not informed?
Let's us as instructors and preachers sew together the fragments of the Bible and God's plan into a seamless tapestry that our people can draw on for the rest of life, helping them to comprehend God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and ways to better interpret the Bible to order our lives by.
It is not hard to do, and it is not boring if we're ready to put in a bit of effort prayer and fervor, and just perhaps you can employ a Bible Timeline too.
